Janine Okmin

About Speaker
Janine Okmin is an educator and arts administrator with extensive experience creating learning experiences in formal and informal Jewish settings. She has developed museum content as Director of Learning and Museum Experience at the Bay Area Discovery Museum, Associate Director of Education at the Contemporary Jewish Museum, and Associate Manager of Learning Through Art at the Guggenheim Museum. In addition to her work at the Jewish Language Project, Janine is the Program Director for the Jewish Writers’ Initiative’s Digital Storytellers Lab, a fellowship for digital media creatives. She holds a BA in Drama from Northwestern University and an MA in Arts Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University. Through Janine’s work in museums, she has participated in comprehensive, multi-year diversity, equity, access, and inclusion (DEAI) related training, including through the Justice Collective. She’s organized DEAI readings and conversation circles for colleagues, and, with a cohort of professionals from culturally-specific museums, has participated in a number of panels on talking about race, culture, religion, and identity in museum settings.
