Avram Mandell is a dedicated educator and influential member of the national Jewish community, boasting over two and half decades of experience in developing and leading educational programs for Jewish youth. He has held crucial roles, serving as Director of Education at two significant Reform congregations, Leo Baeck Temple in Los Angeles, California, and Temple Beth El in San Antonio, Texas. Avram brings a wealth of experience from the youth group and camp settings, having served as Assistant Director of the Union of Reform Judaism Camp Harlam and the regional advisor to the Pennsylvania High School Youth Group, NFTY-PAR. He is an alumnus of Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR), holding a Master of Arts degree in Jewish Education (MAJE), and also a graduate of Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Avram's commitment to advocating for civil rights and racial justice is exemplified through his involvement as a high school representative on the National Council for Christians and Jews, and his active engagement in the Black Student Union at Miami University. He continues to be a vocal advocate, leading Civil Rights Trips to the South and fostering crucial conversations in Los Angeles on racial injustices through his work at Tzedek America. His dedication and impactful contributions have been recognized, earning him accolades, such as the 2016 RHSOE ALUMNI-IN-RESIDENCE Educator for the Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles. Avram's mission is to inspire and engage young adults, encouraging them to incorporate Jewish values into their daily lives and make a meaningful difference in the world.
